Rules For Renters

We love being a home for your lessons and events! We just ask that you treat our space and community with respect as you enjoy our studio.

1. Be gentle with our dance floors

  • Use the floor mats to wipe off your shoes at the front.

  • Avoid sharp heels and anything that would scrap or scruff the floors. We prefer rubber, leather, or suede bottomed shoes to minimize damage to our floors.

  • If you happen to spill liquids or other slippery materials, it’s ok! Just please wipe them off thoroughly to avoid injury on the dance floor. Our co-op members are happy to assist you.

2. Be mindful of others with your use of music. If you are sharing the floor, you’re also time-sharing the music. If you have the floor to yourself, make sure that the volume level isn’t disruptive to other lessons & events going on at the studio.

3. Be mindful of social noise levels while class is in session. We love seeing our community members bonding and chatting, but we ask that noise levels be kept low while dance lessons are going on, especially in the front room & lounge area.

4. Keep things clean & tidy. If you're hosting your own event, please place trash, recyclables, and compostables in their appropriate bins, and put back chairs & equipment in the state and place you found them.

5. Timeliness. Please be on time for your rental, and make sure that the room is ready for the next person when you’re done as well. We generally advise a gentle 5-minute grace period as a setup buffer between rentals. We all know what it’s like to get carried away while dancing and lose track of time, so renters and instructors may respectfully remind each other of time limits.

6. Proactive communication. Our environment is a friendly and welcoming one. Ask for help and help others, and don’t hesitate to reach out to GCDC staff to ask questions, make requests, give feedback, or report issues.
